Hi Folkies!
This is the original Shoreham folk music session, which has been continuously taking place in various pubs in the town for about 30 years. You might hear all kinds of instruments for example, fiddle, guitar, accordion, melodeon, flute, penny whistle, hurdy-gurdy, bag-pipes and who knows what else. The format is a traditional folk music round-table session; performers take it in turns to lead a song or a tune with others joining in or listening as they wish. Musicians and audience welcome. Free entry for all! Typical Tunes and Songs Some of the tunes and songs were videoed by a visitor, John Harvey, who put them on Youtube - thanks John!
Here are links to some of them:-
THE "GOLDEN SLIPPER" PERFORMERS CLUB The format is short spots (2-3 songs/tunes) by local performers, with the house band starting and finishing the evening. All kinds of music is welcome (within reason!) from traditional folk to blues, Americana and country. Free entry for performers and listeners! Sometimes the club gets very busy so if you want to be guaranteed a spot drop us an email. Anyway if you hope to play get there early!
FOLK OFF THE RAILS Each year in July we hold a two-day mini-festival of music mainly in the folk style, played by local bands, in the garden of the Crabtree
Many thanks to Claire, the landlady at the Crabtree for her kind and generous support for the event.
