Hi Folkies!
We currently run two regular monthly folk events, The Shoreham Session and The Golden Slipper Club, both at the Crabtree public house just north of the railway station in sunny Shoreham-by-sea.

THE SHOREHAM FOLK SESSION
On the Third Monday of each month
8.30 for 9.00pm
@ The Crabtree, Shoreham

This is the original Shoreham folk music session, which has been continuously taking place in various pubs in the town for about 30 years.

You might hear all kinds of instruments for example, fiddle, guitar, accordion, melodeon, flute, penny whistle, hurdy-gurdy, bag-pipes and who knows what else.

The format is a traditional folk music round-table session; performers take it in turns to lead a song or a tune with others joining in or listening as they wish. Musicians and audience welcome. Free entry for all!

Typical Tunes and Songs

Some of the tunes and songs were videoed by a visitor, John Harvey, who put them on Youtube - thanks John! Here are links to some of them:-
Hard Times Come Again No More
The Lark in the Morning
The Blackbird and the Silver Spear
Davey Davey Knick Knack and the Dorset Four Hand Reel
Harper's Frolic and Bonny Kate
Brighton Camp and The Rakes of Mallow

THE "GOLDEN SLIPPER" PERFORMERS CLUB
On the First Thursday of each month
8.30 for 9pm
@ The Crabtree, Shoreham

The format is short spots (2-3 songs/tunes) by local performers, with the house band starting and finishing the evening. All kinds of music is welcome (within reason!) from traditional folk to blues, Americana and country. Free entry for performers and listeners!

Sometimes the club gets very busy so if you want to be guaranteed a spot drop us an email. Anyway if you hope to play get there early!

FOLK OFF THE RAILS 2022

We are pleased to report on 'son of Folk by the Water', a two-day mini-festival of music mainly in the folk style, played by local bands, that was held in the garden of the Crabtree on 9th and 10th of August 2022.

We had 18 acts playing 30 minute spots over the two days. The music attracted many favourable comments, the weather was good, and the staff worked had supplying audience with food and drink. A great time was had by all.

The programme for the two days showing the bands that played can be seen .... here ....

Photos and maybe some videos will follow when I get round to it!

Many thanks to Claire, the landlady at the Crabtree for her kind and generous support for the event.
